Happy Holidays and Cheers to a New Year

It has been a privilege to work with hundreds of attorneys, faithfully committed to establishing, encouraging and protecting efficacious and compliant science and technology. As a consequential year draws to a close, we begin to see a flicker of light at the end of the Covid-19 tunnel, and, unsurprisingly, it is called SCIENCE.

As a former American Bar Association #SciTech Committee Chair, and New York City resident, humbled continuously this past spring at 7pm, as neighbors loudly supported one another, I want to sincerely and effusively thank all in #SciTech making this miracle called a vaccine palpable.

Thank you, all parties material to this triumph of human intellect and imagination, that many, less than a year ago, tentatively and desperately dared hope would be achievable.

Also, thank you first responders, healthcare workers and all valiantly serving on the pandemic front lines.

There are still difficult weeks and months ahead. Even so, we can viably again contemplate a future where we will live as we once did.

In the course of my time at the American Bar Association, or at the New York State Bar Association, for that matter, there was not, to my recollection, a prize or recognition for the exceptionally noteworthy contributions attorneys have made to science and technology. Respectfully, I call upon my colleagues to consider initiating such an accolade and awarding the inaugural recognition to our colleagues who have instrumentally supported this seismic advance. Very few of us will ever have the satisfaction of knowing we have helped to save millions, perhaps billions of lives.

Additionally, please allow me to explicitly convey that at such time when the Pfizer vaccine is authorized by the federal government, I will be grateful to have it administered with immediacy and in a public forum, should colleagues find this helpful in promoting public confidence.

Finally, with respect to our individual sorrows; let us continue to remember colleagues and loved ones lost, with love, and draw collective strength from the knowledge that in 2020 humanity was challenged by an inscrutable, ruthless, demon and science and law counterclaimed in repudiation of same.

Happy Holidays and Cheers to a New Year.
